posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Company also reveals new titles, release dates for 2 previously licensed novels

Anime News Network's coverage of Anime NYC 2018 is sponsored by Yen Press.

Vertical announced at Anime NYC on Saturday that it will release an artbook for illustrator VOFAN (Monogatari series) titled Colorful Dreams. Vertical will release the artbook in October 2019, and the release will include a new cover and photographs.

The book is the first of three artbooks that VOFAN published under the Colorful Dreams title. The books launched in Taiwan in 2006, 2007, and 2009, respectively.

The Taiwanese illustrator has drawn over 30 book covers, including for NisiOisin's Monogatari series and Okitegami Kyōko no Bibōroku novels. His illustrations have also served as the original character designs for the Monogatari series anime adaptations. VOFAN has also illustrated magazine covers and the original character designs for the Toki to Towa game.

Vertical also revealed new titles for two previously announced licenses.

Vertical announced in May that it had licensed Keisuke Matsuoka's Sherlock Holmes and Hirobumi Ito novel for a release in March 2019. Vertical will now release the novel under the title Sherlock Holmes: A Scandal in Japan in April 2019. The company describes the novel:

Sherlock Holmes travels to Japan where he teams up with the first Prime Minister of Japan, Hirobumi Ito to solve an international mystery.

Kodansha published the novel in June 2017.

Vertical announced in March that it would release Eiji Mikage's Serial Killer Detective (Satsujinki Tantei no Netsuzō Bigaku) novel, and was aiming for a fall 2018 release. The company will now release the novel under the title Masquerade and the Nameless Women in January 2019. Vertical describes the novel:

Rising-star detective Yuri meets her match when a trusted police confidante, a brilliant psychoanalyst, slightly botches a murder and refuses to claim it for his serial-killer persona. The victim, an enigmatic young woman, turns out to have been no slouch, either.

Kodansha published the novel in November 2017. Yen Press is releasing Mikage's The Empty Box and Zeroth Maria novel series in English.
