Funimation, Afro Samurai Director Fuminori Kizaki to Announce New Sci-Fi Film at C2E2

Polygon Pictures president, Psycho-Pass marketing producer to also attend

FUNimation Entertainment announced on Wednesday that Afro Samurai director Fuminori Kizaki will announce a "new sci-fi, cyberpunk film project" with Funimation at a panel at the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (C2E2) on March 22. Psycho-Pass marketing producer Toshiaki Obata and Polygon Pictures president Shūzō Shiota will also attend the panel for the announcement.

Funimation teased that the project will take place in Tokyo in they year 2036, and it will explore the role of humanity.

Kizaki (pictured right) graduated from Tokyo Animator College and worked for Studio Giants before establishing his own Studio Hercules. In addition to the Afro Samurai anime series and the Afro Samurai: Resurrection film, he has directed Basilisk, Bayonetta: Bloody Fate, and the X-Men anime.

Obata is the co-founder and CEO of SlowCurve. He has worked on publicity for a number of anime, including Psycho-Pass, and is now an executive producer of the anime series revisions.

Shiota was raised in the United States, and he joined Polygon Pictures in 1999. After assuming the role of president and CEO in 2003, he has worked to expand the CGI studio's overseas presence.

C2E2 will take place from March 22-24 at the South Building at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois. Funimation's announcement panel will be on March 22 at 2:45 p.m. CDT.
