Series' author, illustrator attend Manhattan convention in November

Anime NYC and Viz Media announced on Wednesday that they will host Dr. Stone manga creators Riichirou Inagaki and Boichi at this year's convention. The announcement also noted that the Dr. Stone manga and its anime adaptation "will play a major role" at the convention.

The television anime adaptation of Riichirou Inagaki and Boichi's Dr. Stone manga debuted on July 5. Crunchyroll is streaming the series as it airs, and Funimation will stream a simuldub of the anime.

Shinya Iino (storyboards, episode director on Hanebad!, Revue Starlight, Made in Abyss) is directing the anime at TMS Entertainment. Yuichiro Kido (episode scripts for Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Saga, After the Rain, 91 Days) is in charge of series composition and is writing the scripts. Yuko Iwasa (Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas, Yowamushi Pedal) is designing the characters. Tatsuya Kato (WorldEnd, Revue Starlight), Hiroaki Tsutsumi (Children of the Whales, Anima Yell!), and Yuki Kanesaka (Blood Blockade Battlefront & Beyond insert songs) are composing the music. Burnout Syndromes (Gintama Season 4, Haikyu!! Second Season, Haikyu third season) are performing the opening theme song "Good Morning World!," and Rude-α is performing the ending theme song "LIFE."

Viz Media describes the manga's first volume:

One fateful day, all of humanity was petrified by a blinding flash of light. After several millennia, high schooler Taiju awakens and finds himself lost in a world of statues. However, he's not alone! His science-loving friend Senku's been up and running for a few months and he's got a grand plan in mind—to kickstart civilization with the power of science!

Boichi (Sun-Ken Rock) and Inagaki (author of Eyeshield 21) launched the manga in Weekly Shonen Jump in March 2017. Viz Media is publishing the manga digitally and in print.

This year's Anime NYC will be held at the Javits Center in Midtown Manhattan from November 15 to 17. Last year's event had 36,000 attendees from all 50 states and more than 15 countries.
