Sōhei Kōji draws comedy manga about Straw Hat Crew in academic setting

The September issue of Shueisha's V Jump magazine announced on Saturday that Eiichiro Oda's One Piece manga is getting a new spinoff manga titled One Piece Gakuen (One Piece Academy) that will launch in Shueisha's Saikyō Jump magazine starting in the magazine's September issue on August 2.

Sōhei Kōji, who has drawn one-shot manga for Saikyō Jump and Jump Giga in the past, is drawing the manga. The manga will be a comedy series featuring the characters of the Straw Hat Crew in an academic setting.

Other spinoff manga of One Piece include Yoshikazu Amami's (Battle Spirits Burning Soul) Chin Piece manga, which launched in Saikyō Jump in June 2018. Semimaru Aburakōji launched a crossover manga with the YouTuber group Fischer's in Saikyō Jump last August. Daiki Ihara began the Koisuru One Piece (Loving One Piece) gag manga on Shonen Jump+ on the same day that Nakamaru's One Piece Koby ni no Kobiyama: Urifutatsu Nagi no Ōhihō manga launched last June.

Oda began serializing the manga in Weekly Shonen Jump on July 19, 1997 (although the issue was dated with July 22), and Shueisha published the manga's 93rd volume on July 4.
