Fire Force's 3rd Episode Modified After Kyoto Animation Fire

Episode will have altered flame colors, narration

The MBS channel announced on Thursday that the third episode of the anime of Atsushi Ohkubo's Fire Force (En En no Shōbōtai) manga will have edits in consideration of the recent fire at Kyoto Animation's 1st Studio building. The anime will change the color of scenes with flames, and the narration. MBS did not note any further episode other than the third episode that required edits, but stated, "from episode 4 onward, we will deal [with similar situations] accordingly."

Fire Force premiered on July 5. Funimation is streaming the television anime on its FunimationNow streaming service, and is also streaming an English dub. Crunchyroll is also streaming the series. The anime is planned to have 24 episodes. The anime will premiere on Toonami on July 27.

The third episode's planned airing last week was delayed, but will now resume this Friday.

On July 18 at around 10:30 a.m. JST, a devastating fire broke out at Kyoto Animation's 1st Studio building, killing 34 people and injuring 34 others. 30 fire engines responded to the fire, and firefighters were able to extinguish the fire within five hours after it started, but the fire was not fully put out until 6:20 a.m. on Friday. Kyoto Prefectural Police have already apprehended a 41-year-old man who allegedly used gasoline to start the fire, and are investigating the case as arson. The suspect is among those injured (although he is separate from the above-mentioned number of injured people).
