M.A.O joins cast of anime about girls playing board games

The official website for the television anime of Hirō Nakamichi's Hōkago Saikoro Club (Afterschool Dice Club) manga began streaming a new promotional video for the anime. The video previews the anime's opening song "Present Moment" by Miyu Tomita, and reveals an additional cast member, more staff, and the October 2 premiere date for the anime. The site also unveiled a new visual for the anime.

M.A.O joins the cast as Emilia (seen below), a transfer student from Germany who dreams of being a board game designer. Her father runs a board game cafe named "Geschenk."

The newly announced staff members include:

The previously announced cast includes:

Saki Miyashita as Miki, a socially awkward and introverted high school student, but who has a good heart. She tends to not blend well with the people in her class.

Marika Kōno as Aya, an innocent classmate who has only recently moved to Kyoto. She has a constantly cheerful and curious personality.

Miyu Tomita as Midori, the beautiful class representative of Aya's class who values an ordered, well-structured life. She works a part-time job at the board game cafe "Saikoro Club."

Takaya Kuroda as shop owner Takeru Kinjō, the manager of the board game cafe "Saikoro Club." While well-built and stern-looking, he is actually soft-hearted and gentlemanly.

The anime will premiere on ABC TV on October 2, and on Tokyo MX and BS11 on October 3.

Kenichi Imaizumi (Reborn!, Student Council's Discretion Lv. 2, Komori-san Can't Decline) is directing the anime at LIDEN FILMS. Atsushi Maekawa (The Prince of Tennis, Fresh Pretty Cure, Hunter × Hunter) is in charge of series composition. Yukiko Ibe (Onigiri, Nanatsuiro Drops, Magical Girl Ore) is designing the characters. Shūji Katayama (Overlord, Saga of Tanya the Evil) of Team-MAX is composing the music.

Miyashita, Kōno, and Tomita are also performing the anime's ending theme song "On the Board" as their respective characters.

Nakamichi launched the manga in Monthly Shonen Sunday in March 2013. Sugorokuya is credited with cooperation on the manga.

The manga centers on Aya, who moves and starts to attend an all-girls high school in Kyoto. Her first friend is her reserved classmate Miki. After school one day, the committee chairwoman Midori takes them both to an analogue game specialty shop called "Saikoro Club" (Dice Club). There, they start playing a German board game without thinking. Thus begins Aya and Miki's search for fun through the world of analogue games.
