Raise Kamika Manga by Ga-Rei's Hajime Segawa Ends

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Manga launched in January 2017; 5th volume slated for September 25

The October issue of Kadokawa's Monthly Shōnen Ace magazine published the final chapter of Hajime Segawa's Raise Kamika manga on Monday. The final page of the final chapter teased that "Raise and friends' journey still continues." The manga's fifth and final compiled book volume will ship on September 25.

The manga's "boy meets girl" story centers on two protagonists: Raise Daikoku, a high school boy who lives alone and gets by on his own, and Kamika Mikami, a girl transfer student. Their first meeting results in Raise touching Kamika's breasts, which leads her to accuse him of being a molester. From that bad first impression, both are eventually pulled to a mysterious world through unknown causes.

Segawa launched the manga in Monthly Shōnen Ace in January 2017. Kadokawa published the manga's fourth volume on February 25.

Segawa ended his Tokyo ESP manga in July 2016. He launched the "afterschool psychic action" series in Kadokawa's Monthly Shōnen Ace magazine in 2010, shortly after ending The Enchained Spiritual Beast Ga-Rei supernatural action series. Kadokawa published 16 compiled book volumes for Tokyo ESP. Vertical published the manga's eighth and final two-in-one omnibus volume in North America in April 2017.

Both Tokyo ESP and Ga-Rei inspired television anime adaptations in 2014 and 2008, respectively. Ga-Rei is inspiring a live-action television series by Thor producer and Thor: Ragnarok co-writer Craig Kyle.

Segawa launched the Dengeki Travellers manga with Toshinori Okazaki in December 2017. Kadokawa published that manga's second volume on February 9.
