Promo video previews release on December 26

The official website for the television anime of Hiroyuki Kanno's Kono Yo no Hate de Koi o Utau Shōjo YU-NO (YU-NO: A girl who chants love at the bound of this world.) visual novel revealed on Wednesday that the anime's third Blu-ray Disc box will ship with an all-new "Episode 26.5" on December 26. The episode is titled "Mugen no Heiretsu Sekai" (Infinite Parallel Worlds). The website also began streaming a video for the announcement.

In the new episode's story, Takuya and Yu-No are inside the Tree of Vrinda, and they can see the many parallel worlds that might have been. Among them is the figure of Mitsuki, who cannot escape her tragic fate. In order to release Mitsuki from her fate, Takuya reaches out for a certain event.

The anime's website revealed in May that the series would get a new episode with the third Blu-ray Disc box if the first box surpassed 1,000 pre-orders. The series' third Blu-ray Disc box set will also include episodes 18 to 26 of the anime. The release's packaging will feature original illustrations, and the set will bundle a 32-page book.

Additionally, the website revealed the cover of the new episode's script book, as well as layout cuts from the episode.

The anime premiered in Japan on April 2. The series ran for 26 episodes over the course of half a year (or two cours). Crunchyroll and Funimation are streaming the series as it airs.

Crunchyroll describes the story:

During the summer, Takuya Arima receives a package—from his missing father—detailing the existence of parallel universes. He investigates further and soon realizes that he's been given the key to cross-dimensional time travel. Now, Takuya is forced to use this newfound tech to unravel the mystery of his father's whereabouts and find out why those closest to him are keeping secrets.

Tetsuo Hirakawa (Grimoire of Zero) is directing the anime, and Mai Otsuka (This Art Club Has a Problem!, Shakugan no Shana) is designing the characters. Studio feel. is producing the animation, and GENCO is producing.

Director Hirakawa previously said that the anime will depict all the characters and all the routes from the original game. While the game unfolded from the first-person perspective of the protagonist Takuya, the anime also depicts the relationships of the girls around Takuya. Hirakawa vowed that the anime would "outdo the game in dirty jokes," that Mio would "be even more tsundere," and that Kanna would "be even more mysterious."
