posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Detective Conan, Doraemon, Shin-chan, Sword Art Online also do not air in some areas

The official Twitter account for the My Hero Academia anime announced on Saturday that due to emergency reporting on Typhoon Hagibis (Typhoon 19), the first episode of the anime's fourth season did not air in some regions on NTV as planned on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. JST. The anime still aired on YTV, which is broadcast in the Kansai region of Japan.

My Hero Academia manga creator Kōhei Horikoshi posted on Twitter about the cancellation of the episode's airing, stating, "I'm sorry to everyone where the broadcast was cancelled! Safety is the most important!"

The episode of Detective Conan that was slated to air at 6:00 p.m. JST on NTV also did not air as planned in some areas, but the episode did air on YTV.

The record-breaking Typhoon Hagibis will officially make landfall in Japan on Saturday evening. The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) issued a rare level 5 special warning (the highest level issued by the agency) at 3:30 p.m. JST for Tokyo and the Shizuoka, Kanagawa, Saitama, Gunma, Yamanashi, and Nagano prefectures. Many prefectures are also under mudslide warnings.

Update: Funimation and Crunchyroll are both now streaming the first episode with subtitles, and Funimation is streaming the episode with an English dub.

Update 2: Due to the typhoon, other episodes of anime also did not air on Saturday as planned, including Doraemon, Crayon Shin-chan, and Sword Art Online: Alicization - War of Underworld. Crayon Shin-chan will air the episode instead on October 19 at 4:30 p.m. Sword Art Online: Alicization - War of Underworld aired on some channels, but did not air on Tochigi TV. The episode will instead air on Tochigi TV on October 18 at 1:30 a.m.
