Sazae-san Manga Featured in Spring London Exhibition

Section on long-running manga in upcoming exhibition at Japan House in Kensington
The Japan House on London's Kensington High Street (directions) will run an exhibition from April to June, including a section featuring the long-running family manga Sazae-san. The exhibition is called Windowology: New Architectural Views from Japan, and will run from April 16 to March 28.

As part of the exhibition, eight window-related episodes of manga series ‘Sazae-san’ are displayed within the Gallery. One of Japan's most popular manga series, the works were first published in instalments in weekly newspapers between 1946-1974, framing scenes within a yonkoma (four-cell comic strip) style. The characters are often depicted sitting in a typical Japanese house, communicating with other characters via neighbourhood windows.
The anime adaptation of Machiko Hasegawa's family life manga Sazae-san began airing in October 1969. The anime is usually the highest ranked animated series in Japan each week. In 2013, the show was awarded the Guinness World Record for longest-running animated television series.
