posted on by Andrew Osmond
Also, second volume of Revolutionary Girl Utena and Mysteria Friends

On Monday August 17, Manga Entertainment will release the Kyoto Animation series Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid on Blu-ray and DVD. Manga describes the story:

"What happens when a drunken promise leads to living with a dragon? That's Miss Kobayashi's new reality when Tohru appears in her life. With a maid-slash-dragon in her home, she's experiencing a whole new level of domestic bliss! But the dragons don't stop there. On a mission to find Tohru appears Kanna, a little dragon with a big attitude. Before she knows it, Kobayashi's got a house full of dragons—one serving tail and the other serving serious moe! Together, they live side-by-side with only the occasional disaster...well, maybe. But nothing beats coming home to the warm welcome of a dragon maid."

Yasuhiro Takemoto (Amagi Brilliant Park, The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya, Hyōka, Lucky Star) directed the anime at Kyoto Animation. Yuka Yamada (Neo Angelique Abyss, Samurai Warriors, Umi Monogatari) was in charge of the series scripts, and Miku Kadowaki (Amagi Brilliant Park, Beyond the Boundary) designed the characters.

Anime Limited will release the film Mobile Suit Gundam 00 the Movie: A Wakening of the Trailblazer, the sequel to the Mobile Suit Gundam 00 TV series, as a Blu-ray Collector's Edition. This release will also include the Mobile Suit Gundam 00 Special Edition, the three-part compilation of the original series.

Director Seiji Mizushima returned with his team at Sunrise to make the film. Anime Limited describes the story (spoilers for the Mobile Suit Gundam 00 TV series):

"2314 A.D. The new government of the Earth Sphere Federation is carrying out a program of peaceful reconciliation and preparing for the appearance of the Innovators who will lead the human race into a new era. But the return of a derelict Jupiter exploration ship marks the beginning of an unprecedented crisis. What are the alien entities known as Extraterrestrial Living-metal Shape-shifters? What do they want? And will Setsuna F. Seiei and his fellow Gundam Meisters be able to answer these questions before humanity is wiped out?"

Anime Limited is also releasing the second volume of Revolutionary Girl Utena on Blu-ray, subtitled The Black Rose Saga, carrying episodes 13 to 24 of the series. It will also include a poster and five art cards, while on-disc extras include an Animated Art Boards Gallery and interviews with director Kunihiko Ikuhara.

MVM is releasing the series Mysteria Friends. The anime tells an original story, focusing on the characters Anne and Grea from the "Manaria Mahō Gakuin" (Mysteria Academy in the English version) event in Cygames' Rage of Bahamut social game. In the game, Mysteria Academy is a prestigious magic school that teaches magic without discrimination to the three factions (men, gods, demons), who usually are engaged in battle with each other. The anime is set in Mysteria Academy in the kingdom of Mysteria.

Hideki Okamoto (D.C. II: Da Capo II, Battle Girls - Time Paradox) was the director, and Cygames Pictures animated the series.
