Elex Media Licenses MAO, SPY×FAMILY, 5 More Manga

Indonesian publisher Elex Media Komputindo announced over the last two weeks that it has licensed the MAO, SPY×FAMILY, I've Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level, Takahashi-san is Listening, Hōkago Shōnen Hanako-kun, and Q.E.D. iff. SPY×FAMILY's first volume will ship on Wednesday, October 14.

The story of Rumiko Takahashi's MAO manga follows a girl named Nanoka who has "died in the past". One day on her way to school she meets a boy in a place where "two worlds intersect," and starts a mysterious romance guided by fate.

Takahashi launched the manga in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine in May 2019. Shogakukan published the manga's fifth compiled book volume on August 18.

In her career of over three decades, Takahashi has created manga such as Urusei Yatsura, Maison Ikkoku, Mermaid Saga, Rumic Theater, Ranma 1/2, One Pound Gospel, and Inuyasha. Many of her works have become internationally popular and inspired anime and live-action adaptations.

Most recently, Takahashi ended her RIN-NE manga in Weekly Shonen Sunday in December 2017. The 40th and final compiled volume of the manga shipped in Japan in January 2018. Takahashi's Inuyasha manga is also recently inspiring an anime spinoff titled Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon (Hanyō no Yashahime), which premiered on October 3.

Tatsuya Endō's SPY x FAMILY launched in Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ online manga service in March 2019.

The master spy codenamed "Twilight" has spent his days on undercover missions, all for the dream of a better world. But one day, he receives a particularly difficult new order from command. For his mission, he must form a temporary family and start a new life?! A Spy/Action/Comedy about a one-of-a-kind family!

Shueisha's MANGA Plus service added the manga for worldwide release except for North America on the same day as its Japanese debut. Shueisha published the manga's fifth volume on September 4.

Yusuke Shiba's manga adaptation of Kisetsu Morita and Benio's I've Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level light novel series centers on a former office worker who decides to live a calm and peaceful life after dying of overwork, accidentally becoming a powerful immortal watch by through only killing low-level slimes and maxing out her experience after 300 years.

Morita launched the novel series on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in June 2016. SB Creative published the 13th novel volume in print on July 14. Shiba's manga adaptation debuted on Square Enix's Gangan Online website in June 2017, and Square Enix published the seventh compiled volume on September 12.

Morita also wrote a spinoff novel titled Hira Yakunin Yatte 1500-nen, Maō no Chikara de Daijin ni Sarechaimashita. Square Enix published the novel in September 2019. The novel also has a manga adaptation by Meishi Murakami. Square Enix published the third manga volume on September 12.

The light novels are inspiring a television anime adaptation that will premiere in spring 2021.

Yū Hokuō's Takahashi-san is Listening manga launched in Square Enix's Gangan Joker magazine in 2013, and ended with eight volumes in 2017.

Iro Aida's Hōkago Shōnen Hanako-kun is a spinoff manga of their Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun manga. Yen Press is releasing the original manga digitally in North America, and it describes the story:

"Hanako-san, Hanako-san...are you there?" At Kamome Academy, rumors abound about the school's Seven Mysteries, one of which is Hanako-san. Said to occupy the third stall of the third floor girls' bathroom in the old school building, Hanako-san grants any wish when summoned. Nene Yashiro, an occult-loving high school girl who dreams of romance, ventures into this haunted bathroom...but the Hanako-san she meets there is nothing like she imagined! Kamome Academy's Hanako-san...is a boy!

The spinoff manga launched in Square Enix's pixiv Fantasy web manga label in 2018. Square Enix published the manga's first volume in August 2019.

Aida launched the original manga in Square Enix's G Fantasy magazine in 2014. Square Enix published the manga's 13 compiled book volume on May 27. The original manga inspired a television anime adaptation that premiered on January 9. Animax Asia aired a simulcast of the anime in Southeast Asia.

Motohiro Katou's Q.E.D. iff is a sequel manga to their original Q.E.D. manga. The manga's story centers on child prodigy Sou Touma, who solves cases with his ahtletic friend Kana Mizuhara.

Katou launched the manga in the inaugural issue of Kodansha's Shōnen Magazine R magazine in February 2015, after ending the first manga when its original magazine Shonen Magazine Plus ceased publication.

Kodansha published 50 compiled book volumes for the original manga. Kodansha will publish Q.E.D. iff's 17th compiled book volume on Friday.
