Platform adds the first seasons of two Yu-Gi-Oh! series

Konami Cross Media NY, Inc. has announced in a press release that the Sky Kids platform is now streaming episodes of Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters, in HD formatted episodes, and Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS.

At present, there are 49 episodes from Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters Season 1 on Sky Kids, listed here. There are also 46 episodes from Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS episodes, listed here.

Beginning in 2000, Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters (pictured right) was the second anime adaptation of the original Yu-Gi-Oh! manga by Kazuki Takahashi. An earlier series (27 parts) had been made in 1998 by Toei Animation. The version in 2000 was made by Studio Gallop, and ran over five seasons to 2004. The series focuses on Yugi Muto, who comes into possession of an ancient Millennium Puzzle artefact and is then possessed by a game-playing Pharaoh spirit.

Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS (pictured left) is the sixth series in the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise. It was animated by Studio Gallop, and shown in Japan from 2017 to 2019. Cinedigm has described the series:

In Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS, a duelist named Playmaker must team up with a trash-talking AI to thwart a nefarious group of hackers bent on destroying the cyber world. Ranked 6th in Best 100 TV Anime at the 2019 Tokyo Anime Award Festival, the series merges virtual reality, artificial intelligence, and high-speed dueling into a fighting extravaganza.

Masahiro Hosoda (Heroes ~Legend of Battle Disks~, Nangoku Shounen Papuwa-kun) and Katsuya Asano directed the anime at GALLOP. Shin Yoshida and Ken'ichi Hara returned from previous Yu-Gi-Oh! anime to supervise the series scripts and design the characters, respectively.
