Hajime Kamoshida Writes New Gundam Eight Manga

posted on by Alex Mateo

This year's November issue of Kadokawa's Gundam Ace magazine confirmed on Saturday that Hajime Kamoshida (Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans Gekkō, Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans anime's script writer, Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai) will write a new Gundam manga titled Kidō Senshi Gundam Eight (Mobile Suit Gundam Eight).

The manga's direction will similar to Gundam 00 in that there will be a new generation and world different from Gundam: The Origin and Gundam UC.

The magazine lists that the manga is "coming soon." Gundam Eight is part of Gundam Ace's 20th anniversary project.

Kamoshida and artists Dango and Hirosuke Terama's Mobile Suit Gundam: Tekketsu no Orphans Gekkō spinoff manga launched in Gundam Ace in October 2015, and ended in Kadokawa's Gundam Ace magazine in March 2018.

The Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans television anime's first season premiered in 2015, and the second season premiered in 2016. Daisuki, Gundam.info, and Hulu streamed the first season as it aired, and Crunchyroll streamed both seasons, and also streamed an English dub. Toonami began airing the first season with an English dub in June 2016, and debuted the second season in October 2017.

A new television special compilation of the television anime is slated for a spring 2022 premiere — the same period as the Kidō Senshi Gundam: Tekketsu no Orphans G smartphone app and the Kidō Senshi Gundam: Tekketsu no Orphans: Urðr-Hunt spinoff project. The compilation will have nine parts.
