Anime Cinema Film Screenings in U.K. Next Weekend

On Saturday December 4 to Sunday December 5, several UK cinemas will be showing the following four films: Summer Ghost (pictured right, together with a "Making of" feature), Pompo: The Cinéphile (pictured left), Looking for Magical DoReMi, and Over The Sky. There are more details of each film below.

At present, the following venues are due to screen these films, with tickets available to book here - note that while the linked page gives particular dates and times, these vary between the venues.

Summer Ghost is a 45-minute film; the screening will include a 30-minute pre-recorded Q&A with the director. The film is about three high school students who met online. An urban legend speaks of a "Summer Ghost," a spirit girl who appears when fireworks are set off. Each student has their own reason for needing to meet the Summer Ghost. The film's director, loudraw, is credited with Original Character Design for I want to eat your pancreas and Conceptual Design for Josee, The Tiger and the Fish.

Pompo: The Cinéphile festures Joelle Davidovich "Pompo" Pomponette, a talented movie producer who looks like a girl, who operates out of the movie capital "Nyallywood." Takayuki Hirao (The Garden of Sinners movie 5, God Eater) directed the film at CLAP. Shingo Adachi (Sword Art Online, Wagnaria!!) designed the characters.

Looking for Magical DoReMi follows three women in their twenties, from completely different walks of life, who are drawn together by their love for an old Magic Girl anime series, Ojamajo Doremi. Junichi Satō (Sailor Moon, Aria, Princess Tutu), the director of the original Ojamajo Doremi anime, directed the new film alongside Yū Kamatani (Precure franchise episode director) at Toei Animation.

Over The Sky is a fantasy film set in Tokyo's Ikebukuro district, and centers on two childhood friends, Mio and Arata. Mio is involved in a traffic accident, and finds herself in a fantasy version of Ikebukuro.Yoshinobu Sena (Neko mo, Onda-ke's director and writer, Vampire Holmes' original concept and lead voice actor) directed the film, wrote the script, and was credited for the original concept.
