Scotland Loves Anime Confirms 2023 Line-Up in Glasgow and Edinburgh

Screenings at both cities in early November

The Scotland Loves Animation website is now listing the films that will be screened in GLASGOW from November 3 to 5 and Edinburgh from November 6 to 12.

Tickets for both GLASGOW and Edinburgh can be found at the above link, including a weekend pass for the GLASGOW screenings.

The venue for the GLASGOW screenings will be the GLASGOW Film Theatre, and the Edinburgh screenings will be in the Cameo Picturehouse.

The new films that will be screened include Blue Giant (pictured above right), Komada - A Whisky Family (pictured left), Lonely Castle in the Mirror, The Concierge, and Gold Kingdom and Water Kingdom. They will also include Phoenix: Reminiscence of Flower, which is a cinema edition of the miniseries recently released on Disney+ as Phoenix: Eden17, although the cinema version has a different ending.

The following films that will be screened in GLASGOW and Edinburgh:

Gold Kingdom and Water Kingdom, directed by Kotono Watanabe. Screening in GLASGOW at 7.20 p.m. on Sunday November 5 and in Edinburgh at 3.30 p.m. on Friday November 10.

Summer Ghost, directed by loundraw, together with a music video showcase and a director Q&A. Screening in Edinburgh at 6 p.m. on Friday November 10.

Tekkonkinkreet, directed by Michael Arias. Screening in Edinburgh at 8.30 p.m. on Friday November 10.

Komada - A Whisky Family, directed by Masayuki Yoshihara. Screening in GLASGOW at 3 p.m. on Saturday November 4 and in Edinburgh at 8.30 p.m. on Saturday November 11.

Galaxy Express 999 - the 1979 film version directed by Rintarō. Screening in GLASGOW at 8.10 p.m. on Friday November 3 and in Edinburgh at 12 noon on Sunday November 12.

Phoenix: Reminiscence of Flower, directed by Shoujirou Nishimi. Screening in GLASGOW at 2.50 p.m. on Sunday November 5 and in Edinburgh at 5.45 p.m. on Sunday November 12.

The Animatrix anthology, screening in GLASGOW at 8.30 p.m. on Thursday November 2 and in Edinburgh at 8.15 p.m. on Sunday November 12.

The following film is screening at Edinburgh only:

Summer Ghost, directed by loundraw, together with a music video showcase and a director Q&A. Screening in Edinburgh at 6 p.m. on Friday November 10.

The weekday screenings at Edinburgh will include Rintarō's Metropolis on Monday October 6 at 6 p.m.; Satoshi Kon's Paprika on Tuesday October 7 at 5 p.m.; Cowboy Bebop: The Movie on Wednesday October 8 at 8 p.m.; and Ghost in the Shell: Innocence by on Thursday October 9 at 8 p.m.

The following film is screening at GLASGOW only during the same period as the festival, but it is not actually part of Scotland Loves Anime, and therefore not included in the festival's weekend pass:

Vampire in the Garden "Supercut", directed by Ryōtarō Makihara, with a director Q&A. Screening in GLASGOW at 5.10 p.m. on Friday November 3.
