AnimeCon.org Announces Updated Refund Policy

Chicago, IL - December 15, 2014 - AnimeCon.org, a leading organizer of anime conventions, has announced today a new refunds policy for all of its events. All AnimeCon.org conventions will allow attendees to receive refunds on badges purchased up to 50 days after purchase up until 15 days prior to the convention.

This new policy will enable congoers to purchase badges as gifts without knowing a person's schedule in advance, or to pre-register themselves and their friends with more peace of mind. AnimeCon.org's refund policy is one of the most generous in the entire anime convention industry.

"I want to send a message that conventions need to be flexible to the needs of their attendees," said convention organizer Ryan Kopf. "Other conventions allow no refunds at all or only give people a week to request one. But every email request I've received outside of our old policy has been a fair need. Someone's family member gets ill and they need money. Someone is being deployed. Family is suddenly moving. I think we should show how much we care about every single attendee."

The new policy allows for automatic refunds with a $5 fee anytime via the convention's registration website http://cons.mx. Organizers have found this fee enough to prevent abuse but not high enough to make getting a refund a painful process. Refunds are not available when the convention is 15 or fewer days away; usually registration money has been spent on convention supplies by then.

A brief study conducted by UpcomingCons.com revealed that at least two out of five conventions had a no-refunds policy and that equally as many had no refund policy that could be found on their website. Among the most progressive conventions are those that allow registration transfers to other people with a $5 fee.

AnimeCon.org's previous policy was up to 30 days after purchase and 30 days prior to the convention.
