Doraemon to Help Celebrate National Cherry Blossom Fest in Washington DC

NATIONAL CHERRY BLOSSOM FESTIVAL PARADE® PRESENTED BY EVENTS DC FEATURES CELEBRITY ENTERTAINMENT ON CONSTITUTION AVENUE

Saturday, April 11, 10 a.m. until noon; FREE along the Parade route

WHAT: The National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade®, presented by Events DC..

WHERE: The Parade runs along iconic Constitution Avenue, from 7th to 17th Streets, NW.
The steps of the National Archives serve as an exciting performance backdrop, and vibrant costumes and blossom-inspired décor create the look of the nation's premier springtime parade.

WHEN: Saturday, April 11 from 10 a.m. to noon, rain or shine.

HIGHLIGHTS: Celebrity entertainers include: Grammy Award Win¬ning Recording Artist Estelle, Recording Artist Lance Bass, Radio Disney Recording Artist Jordan Fisher, Heffron Drive featuring Kendall Schmidt, Season 13 “American Idol” Winner Caleb Johnson, and Recording Artist Jade Starling.

The Festival grand finale features special appearances by the Tamagawa University Drumming and Dance Troupe, cast members from Signature Theater's “Simply Sondheim,” and Kira Kazantsev, Miss America 2015, as well as Miss District of Columbia USA and Miss District of Columbia Teen USA.

Costumed characters and gargantuan helium balloons include Japanese lanterns, pink cherry blossoms, and characters like Doraemon, one of the most beloved characters of Japan, Strawberry Shortcake, the Care Bears Cheer Bear, and Spike from Jim Henson's Doozers.

TICKETS: Free and open to the public. Prime Grandstand seats are on sale now and can be purchased at nationalcherryblossomfestival.org, Tunestub.com (search National Cherry Blossom Festival), or by calling 1-800-927-0939. The Grandstand section offers reserved seating along Constitution Avenue between 15th and 17th Streets NW. Standing along the Parade route is free and open to the public.

TRAVEL: The event is Metro-accessible via the Navy Memorial on the Yellow/Green lines or Federal Triangle on the Blue/Orange lines.
