Chin Daiko to Perform at Otakon Matsuri

Washington, D.C. (June 15, 2017) – Chin Daiko, a group that plays Taiko drums, will perform on Friday and Saturday at this year's Matsuri, to be held at Otakon 2017. They will also play at Otakon's opening ceremonies.

Chin Daiko has been teaching and demonstrating Okinawa Eisa since 2010. Eisa is a combination of Karate, dance and Taiko. They have performed for the Japanese ambassador, the Washington, D.C. mayor, other dignitaries, and different organizations in locations ranging from New Jersey to Virginia Beach. Chin Daiko believe and teach the concept of “peace through understanding each other's culture.”

As a bit of a different spin on the previous years' iterations, 2017's Otakon Matsuri will take place alongside Otakon throughout the entire convention weekend of August 11-13 within the Washington Marriott Marquis (901 Massachusetts Ave NW, Washington, DC 20001). The exciting programming track will feature a vast array of entertainment including panels, demonstrations, special guests and the incredible musical performances that the Otakon Matsuri is known for.

Otakon 2017 will be held from August 11 to 13 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Washington, D.C.
