Shadowverse At PAX West

Shadowverse to show its hand at PAX West

Cygames to team up with Twitch to show off its strategic card game

TOKYO – August 4, 2017 – Cygames announced today that it will be showing off Shadowverse at PAX West this September. The Japanese game developer will be showing its smash hit digital card game in partnership with Twitch, the world's leading social video platform and community for gamers and creators.

As part of the show, which takes place in Seattle from September 1 to September 4, Shadowverse will be playable at the Twitch booth (#1909), where visitors can compete to win limited edition promo cards, pick up tips from influential members of the Shadowverse community, and check out some Shadowverse-themed cosplay.

“We always feature games aligned with our community when partnering with brands for our convention booths,” said Amber Dalton, Director of Global Sponsorships at Twitch. “Since card games are especially popular on our platform, Cygames' Shadowverse is a perfect fit. It's a digital card game that anyone can enjoy on PC and mobile devices.”

In addition, a very special Shadowverse cosplay guest looks likely to make an appearance at PAX: the world's most annoying vegetable, Ultimate Carrot. Loved and loathed in equal measure, Ultimate Carrot is the card that just keeps coming back, and it looks like this rowdy root vegetable will be equally omnipresent at PAX West to annoy attendees (in a good way, of course).

The PAX weekend also marks the mid-point of the NGE Shadowverse Open 2, so showgoers can expect some esports-related excitement as the NGE Mid-Season Special broadcasts cast a look back over the efforts of the very best Shadowverse players in Europe and North America as they compete for a prize pool of $32,000.

Since its launch in June last year, Shadowverse has established itself as Japan's leading digital strategic card game, and is at the forefront of Japan's burgeoning esports scene. Now it continues its advance across North America and Europe – but PAX marks the last event on the Shadowverse calendar for North America in 2017, so fans of the game should be sure to get to the Washington State Convention Center for their last chance this year to pick up some Shadowverse-themed swag.

About the world's most annoying vegetable
Ultimate Carrot is the vegetable that just keeps coming back. Ushered into your hand when you play the card Gourmet Emperor Khaiza, Ultimate Carrot made his (or is it her?) Shadowverse debut as part of the Rise of Bahamut expansion, and has proven to be a perennial pain ever since. As the card description explains, Ultimate Carrot is “The supreme carrot, standing with the most sublime of ingredients. The flavor of its bright orange frame overwhelms all else in creation.”
