Anime and Music Come Together at New Festival: OtakuFest, August 31 - September 1

Anime and Music Come Together at Hot New Festival: OtakuFest, August 31 - September 1

Miami, Florida (August 19, 2019) — OtakuFest, a new 2-day anime and fan festival, is coming to the Miami Airport Convention Center on August 31st - September 1st, 2019. Presented by the Creative Director of Animate! Florida and Paradise City Comic Con, the festival will celebrate the best in geek and nerd culture including anime, animation, cosplay, gaming, manga, comics, music, and more.

OtakuFest expects to bring in 5,000 people over 2 days for its first show in 2019. Attendees can enjoy over 100 hours of programming including celebrity Q&As, costume contests, industry panels, workshops, karaoke, dance parties, live music, gaming tournaments, and more.

Unlike other south Florida conventions, OtakuFest is incorporating a music festival that will feature live performances from themed artists such as XNVIX, 8 Bit Wave, Rhythm Bastard, Somino Strings, Benny Gravitz, No.17, and more.

“Music and anime played a huge part in my upbringing,” Winji Mesadieu, founder of OtakuFest, said. “As a convention-goer myself, I noticed that not enough people were incorporating music into their shows, even though there is so much fan overlap. I wanted to host something that merged two of my passions and featured different genres, from rap and hip hop to rock and chiptune.”

In fact, OtakuFest's newest guest announcement is local hip hop artist and anime enthusiast Robb Bank$. Bank$ will be in attendance on both Saturday and Sunday. Autograph session times will be announced on www.otakufest.com soon.

Additionally, OtakuFest has taken great strides to celebrate and incorporate Asian culture and will include special features such as a Maid Café, manga library, J-fashion show, educational panels, Asian snacks, a K-pop dance contest, and more.

Highlights Include:

More than 70,000 square feet of exhibit space featuring over 200 booths and tables of vendors, celebrity guests, artists, cosplayers, and more.
30,000 additional square feet of convention space which includes 3 entertainment stages, video gaming, and a dozen rooms for panels and screenings.
