Dragon Ball Blasts Its Way into Heritage Auctions' First Ever Anime Showcase

KAMEHAMEHA! Dragon Ball Blasts Its Way into Heritage Auctions' First Ever Anime Showcase

Goku, Vegeta, Krillin, Piccolo, Gohan, Bulma, and More Feature in Over 200 Animation, Comic Book, and Trading Card Lots

Heritage Auctions will offer the best-of-the-best lots from the monumental Dragon Ball franchise in its inaugural Anime Showcase sale, titled The Art of Dragon Ball. More than 200 rare and essential pieces will cross the auction block on November 17, 2022: highly graded trading cards, original production cels from Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, and Dragon Ball GT, and original printings of major Weekly Shonen Jump issues (including #838, the landmark first published entry in the entire Dragon Ball franchise)! All this and more in this incredible auction.

Following the long-running, action-packed adventures of Goku as he grows into one of the most powerful heroes in the universe, Akira Toriyama's influential Dragon Ball phenomenon set a new standard for shonen storytelling with its first publication in 1984. Dragon Ball has since become one of the highest-grossing media franchises of all time, inspiring countless beloved anime and manga titles, but never quite matched in its global renown. The series is still going strong, as seen with this August's box office hit Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. Lauded for its large cast of colorful characters, intense sequences of animated action, and epic episode count, Dragon Ball remains a fan favorite for countless anime collectors.

This sale features a veritable treasure trove of Dragon Ball production artwork. Highlights of this exciting auction include original production cels and animation drawings featuring such iconic characters as Goku (in many of his Super Saiyan forms and stages of life), Vegeta, Krillin, Piccolo, Bulma, and fan-favorite villains such as Buu, Frieza, Raditz, Cell, and more! Cels from the very first episodes of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z, pivotal scenes and unforgettable action sequences, battle poses, and Kamehameha attacks, this sale has it all! Among these innumerable gems are several of the highest-graded Viz Media Dragon Ball comic books in the CGC database, and a set of seven rare promotional trading cards from the Saiyan Saga of the Dragon Ball Z Trading Card Game (all PSA-graded with exceptionally low populations!).

Heritage Auctions is the largest US auction house to regularly feature original anime artwork and anime memorabilia auctions. We are indescribably proud to offer these highly coveted items in the upcoming Art of Dragon Ball showcase. One of the most extensive collections of Dragon Ball pieces ever brought to market, this sale is sure to please any fan of the adored franchise. The auction will be held on ha.com from October 20 to November 17, 2022. Don't miss it!
