Kaiju No. 8 Approaches Jump Festa '24 Super Stage Red

Livestream of the stage will be available outside of Japan for overseas fans!

Tokyo, Japan (December 11, 2023) - Shueisha, Inc. has announced details of the Kaiju No. 8 stage on Super Stage RED happening at the annual event JUMP FESTA. JUMP FESTA '24 will be held December 16-17, 2023 (JST) at Makuhari Messe. JUMP Super Stage RED will feature 10 popular hit titles and will be livestreamed on the official YouTube channel “JUMP Channel” so that overseas fans can enjoy JUMP FESTA as well. JUMP Super Stage RED will be livestreamed outside of Japan with simultaneous English interpretation.

The first program on the second day of JUMP Super Stage RED will be Kaiju No. 8, which is currently serialized in Shonen Jump+ and has 11 volumes published and a total circulation of over 11 million copies (including digital versions) domestically in Japan. Kaiju No. 8 tells the story of Kafka Hibino who spends his days cleaning up the mess left after “Kaiju” attacks– that is, until a bizarre encounter turns Kafka into a Kaiju himself! The TV anime adaptation (Animation Studio: Production I.G / Kaiju Supervision (Design & Artworks): Studio Khara) is scheduled for broadcast in April 2024, and is already generating a lot of buzz. A PV featuring scenes from the main story and information on the cast playing the main characters has already been released, raising expectations for next year's broadcast.

In addition to the popular voice actors who are appearing in the new anime starting April 2024, real Kaiju No. 8 will appear on stage to liven up the venue! Also on the day of the event, plenty of information on Kaiju No. 8 is scheduled to be released, including the announcement of more voice actors of popular characters appearing in the anime, and the latest information related to the original manga currently serialized in Shonen Jump+. In addition, there will be a live reading performed by the voice actors, as well as an integrated venue experience that utilizes lights, images, powerful sounds, and the latest AR technology.

Created by Naoya Matsumoto, Kaiju No. 8 began serialization on July 3, 2020 in Shonen Jump+. Each new chapter release sets new records for views at the fastest pace in the history of Shonen Jump+. With the 11th manga volume set to be released this December in Japan, the cumulative circulation in Japan is expected to exceed 12 million copies (including digital versions).

Kaiju No. 8 is set in a world where Kaiju disasters ruthlessly invade everyday life, with Japan having one of the highest Kaiju attack rates in the world. Given the code name “Kaiju No. 8” by the Japan Defense Force, Kafka struggles as a member of the Japan Defense Force with his comrades, while shouldering his fate of becoming a Kaiju.

The series is being distributed overseas simultaneously with Japan in 8 languages through multiple services including MANGA Plus by SHUEISHA. The print version has been published in 35 countries and regions and has been well received. The anime is currently scheduled to be broadcast from April 2024.
