Fortunately, this series isn't one where the pair are in an indefinite stalemate. The dynamic begins to change around chapter 40. For the better, as one of the annoying early gags where Mona keeps accidentally flashing Kuroiwa or something similar that results in her being embarrassed finally stops happening.

The girls are not straightforward, no BS enough with their advances, while the main character, even with his background as an excuse is dense and rather overthinks obvious flirting attempts. Sounds familiar, right?
Romcom rules dictate that the main character has to initiate a choice. Medaka is heavily on the receiving end, not the initiating end. While he processes things more and more I still think that with this anime announcement, getting a winner is still far in the future.

Yeah, especially when I noticed almost every volume cover to date features different girl... 90% of which we know for sure won't have any chance to win anyway.

Most of those other girls are Mona's friends, and they aren't after Medaka's attention. There is at least one rival (there's only one where I'm at now at chapter 60), but this isn't a harem style romcom.
