Happy to see them moving forward with the sequel and I hope Blunt is aboard as well as the Full Metal Bi#@$, two years is a long enough wait.

This is actually one of the best Western or any live-action adaption of a Japanese book ever. Really surprisingly great movie. If they can make the sequel as good as the first one, I'm all for it!

Ulinox: The thing is, though, that there's no actual sequel novel or manga in Japan. So, it might be a challenge, like Battle Royale 2 was.

I didn't think Edge of Tomorrow was popular enough to get a sequel.

same here, but I still get a laugh out of it whenever I'm in the manga section and people walk by a copy of all you need is kill and call it a rip off of edge of tomorrow

It has Tom Cruise somewhere in the producers, whose Engrams tell him he really is as cool and bulletproof in real life as his Mission:Impossible characters.

And it has producers who didn't realize it was a manga story, and thought Cruise DID make it up like all his Mission:Impossible films.

When Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings movies were new, there were people who thought the JRR Tolkien books were novelizations of the movies. Movies and TV are such pervasive media that they tend to be the first a lot of people hear about an IP. (I first heard about Twilight through people talking about the movie, for instance. Oddly, since they were guys who were excited to see it, I didn't learn it was aimed at women until a bit later. For the record, they weren't gay or anything. They're just movie fans who were always enthusiastic to see the next big hit at the theaters regardless of its intended demographic.)

A bit surprised that they're moving forward with the sequel. I heard the film didn't financially perform as well as expected and personally thought the film tied up the plot threads sufficiently. Wonder what the sequel will be about, since spoiler[the Mimics were no longer a threat after the Omega was destroyed]. Although Blunt is expecting her second child, I also hope she will be available. Cool

Well a sequel could take place during the events of Edge of Tomorrow, like on of the repeated pasts or something clever... Maybe even with new characters... But I doubt it as they'd very likely want Cruise back.

Its not really a problem, the movie didn't really fallow the manga anyways, it just borrowed the premise. The ending was different. So no real obstructions to a sequel to the movie.

Also, I heard that the mangaka is making a sequel to the manga. So there is that too.

It was a manga adaption, so I think expectations weren't all that high really. Also, a theatrical run that garnering $370 million against a $175 million budget, is a pretty successful venture to the investors and a far cry from preforming lack luster in the box office.

People who know about both All You Need Is Kill and Edge Of Tomorrow, know the relationship between the two. People who know about only Edge of Tomorrow, they wouldn't know anything about All You Need Is Kill or what it's about, let alone be able to tell how they resemble each other.

Well, his brand name was what gave the film exposure, and he's the one who's pitching the idea of a sequel.

Kinda typical of live-action adaptations of Japanese works. Death Note is getting another movie, and that went out on its own too. Same for Attack on Titan. They like to make their own world.

Perhaps, it was more of the 192 million in net profit than anything else.
