Why am I not surprised that it's an import? Why can't Aniplex be normal and just release it domestically with an English dub and for a reasonable price? It's a single half hour episode, yet its $50.

Not only is the price insane but the OVA is pretty average... worth watching for Persona fans but stream it on CR, don't spend $40-50 on it.

This. I mean it's something from Persona 5 no less.

Still find it amusing that all the mainline persona games released in the west are English dub only yet outside of the P4 anime because of sentai all the Persona related animes are Japanese dub only despite the series popularity in the west and the vast majority of western persona fans playing the games with an English dub as thats the only legally provided track in the localized version.

The justification I can see is it comes with a bonus drama CD and the other special features. Plus, high-pricing is their specialty.

It really is their specialty. They release almost everything as an import collectors edition with or without an English dub, then crank the price up so high that only diehard fans can pay for it. If we're lucky, it'll get a standard edition with or without dub in two years.

For 50 bucks you can basically just buy the game itself and skip over this.

why pay $50 for a single anime episode when you can just watch this same special for free on Crunchyroll?

Well someone out there must be buying it or else they wouldn't make any money off these products. I wonder if Aniplex is supported by 500 die hard rich collectors or something whom buy everything from them?
