Not to be the guy but some of the videos are doubled and embedded in the wrong parts of the article.

it's got excellent stage design

The late game stages have excellent design, despite being obnoxiously difficult?

My Wii is still attached to the TV (Backlog Life, you know), so I don't know if I'll be buying Sonic Colors again, but it is tempting, as it's my favorite in the series. Seems like there's new music as well?

Also looking forward to the new Dragon Quest stuff, but again... backlog. I have at least five mainline and spinoff Dragon Quests that I haven't gotten around to yet Laughing

No platforms announced yet, but I'd say Switch is probably a given, as it's the most popular console out right now and DQ prides itself on mass-market appeal.

And how is PS4/PS5 (or PS5 through BC) not a given? The first main DQ title on PS since the PS2 and DQ XI sold 1.3m physically in Japan (3DS did 1.7m at a lower price) meaning with digital, it should be near 2m total. You don't just leave 2m on table. Thats not including the hardware boost PS4 got when it released, which was 93k that week. It took 3 years for DQ XI to release. The PS5 has just started tracking ahead of the PS4 in Japan with its limited stock these past few weeks. This game can be expected to be out by 2023. By then, the PS5 shouldn't have stock problems unless Jim Ryan continues to lie about caring for Japan. This game is a given on PS.

- Dragon Quest: the DQIII remake looks great and they should remake other games in that style. Regarding DQXII, I do wonder what do they have in mind, DQ has always been seen in the west by causal players as too traditional and grindy compared to other JRPGs, some say that the Toriyama artstyle makes things hard too take seriously because it reminds them of Dragon Ball. I don't think Toriyama won't be involved, perhaps this time the main character will speak and have more personality and the console of choice will be the PS5 and the Switch successor (perhaps a downgraded port like DQXI for the 3DS will be released on the Switch, they can't ignore all the Switch owners in Japan).
- Sonic: I was hoping for a Sonic collection with more games but it's cool to see Sonic 3&K again, I just hope that the development of the new 3D game is going smoothly.
- Virtua Fighter: kinda weird that SEGA chose the PS4 for the game, I know the PS5 is backwards compatible, but still an Xbox and PC port could have also worked to give VF more exposure since the series.
- KOF: Blue Mary looks beautiful as allways, she was a DLC character in XIV so this was kind of a surprise. I wonder if she, Mai and Yuri will form the Women Fighters Team this time.

-Dragon Quest: Yeah, my guess is DQXII will probably be Switch exclusive, maybe with a PS5 port down the line (if they can get their bs together). DQIII getting the HD-2D update makes me wonder if SE might try it with other titles. FFV or VI getting HD-2D remakes would be amazing

-Sonic: Cool to see HD remasters and once again having no faith in a new Sonic entry.

-Switch: The only thing I dread is the tech junkies crying foul when they realize it's not some giant leap forward. Don't expect Doom Eternal getting a massive overhaul for it.

-VF5: Good times

While I personally assume it'll be multiplat as well, especially with the game releasing simultaneously worldwide, Switch really is the safest bet. According to Famitsu sales numbers, Switch has sold over double PS4's life-to-date numbers in Japan already (19.947.130 to 9.361.386), and it continues to sell more than PS4 and PS5 combined pretty much every week over there.

Two counters dq11 came out first on the ps4, then also got the goty edition from the switch later. Point two they are pushing worldwide and ps4 existing base outside of Japan is the highest not to mention the ps5 is outpacing the 4 with a major supply crunch. I agree it's muti Plat switch and ps, but if it was one and they decided to go ff western fan base pandering I could see at least non Japan it being ps only or first.

Actually, DQ11 came out multiplat on PS4 and 3DS in Japan.

I'm honestly worried about DQ12 pandering to the FF fans. Being fully upfront, while I like some of the games, I wouldn't call myself a Final Fantasy fan, so when they said DQ12 would be darker and make changes to the combat, FF was the first thing I thought of and it really killed the enjoyment I was having throughout the rest of the announcement presentation.
