Even though I'm not big into Eva, I would probably buy this if I had £200 spare, as it looks pretty good.

I'm happy it has both dubs but why does the old dub have to be on separate discs? It was uncut. Surely that just drives up production costs.

Probably so they can reuse the “official” dub discs on the standard edition release. It’s pretty clear the ADV dub will only be included with this more expensive release.

Really wish I had the money to spare on the special edition, having both dubs would be great for preservation. I'm glad there's going to be a normal edition anyway though.

I'm sorry it's not Eva without Fry (Fly) Me to the Moon.

I wonder why there's no mention that this is also available in the US through GKids.

Yeah, I'm kind of torn about getting this as it doesn't feel complete without that song.

The US and AUS/NZ region releases are also on that same provided link. It might be nice to mention them in the article, too. It sort've looks like it's a European release only as it's presented now.

I'm still debating whether to pick this up. I'm indifferent on the new dub and I already have the ADV Platinum thinpak and Manga movie releases. But I would love the cleaned up visuals for the movies in particular (and I do really like that artbook). Argh, hopefully it won't sell out overnight for some reason so I can think on it a bit more.

Pleasantly surprised it includes the Netflix dub, considering most international releases have just stuck to the old dub. And I'm happy the ADV dub is included, since dub preservation is important.

But sadly I'm going to have to pass on this due to the lack of Fly Me to the Moon. Streaming it without that song is one thing, but buying it without doesn't feel right. Especially at that price.

I jumped at the chance to buy this, but the price and the lack of Fly Me to the Moon make me not want to pursue buying this.

Not quite. The AUS/NZ link goes to the Madman website but there no option to preorder for now.

is there any specific reason why Evangelion, one of the most popular and iconic series of all time, is only getting a small limited physical release rather than a normal release?

I was going to complain about the price, but it's already sold out so I guess the point is moot.

More versions are coming though, so it should be interesting to see how they compare in terms of content.

The lack of "Fly me to the moon" is a big minus on this set regardless. At least I've still got the original Platinum release I guess...

I could care less about the fly me to the moon song being there or not. It has the old adv dub that alone made it a must buy for me because i highly doubt the standard release will have it.

Well hopefully the standard Blu-ray release will have both dubs and will be widely available through amazon if not then I can't say its worth the double dip.
