Not listed on the ANN article, but the Smile Princess unit will also have their first solo live on 21 March 2022.

It's another "cute girls doing cute things" show, but with hockey, so I'm torn.

I wouldn't go that far since other past trailers showed pretty intense hockey matches and melodrama. Really, it's the whole idol thing that makes me scratch my head and really hope it's going to be stuck on a OP or ED sequence only. It does feel like the creators are piggy-backing on Uma Musume's massive success since it had some idol elements along with the horse racing (though I heard S2 of the anime toned that down). It is not helped that the character designs look like they're lifted from Love Live or Bang Dream. I guess the reason they did this is because it's all part of the mixed-media approach they're going for.

But all in all, it's a big wait-and-see so who know if this show might end up being a surprise.

ANN keeps linking to the wrong Takase Kurumi in every article about this show. The actual Kurumi involved with this show is a 22-year-old idol from the group BEYOOOOONDS. She wasn't even alive when the other Kurumi recorded the only role listed on her ANN page (a hentai OVA).

To their credit, the entire dance sequence has been hand-drawn, which is a rarity nowadays. From what I remember, they marketed it as the "world's first ice hockey anime", so my guess is it's going to be a hardcore sports anime with the usual tropes, with cute girls to boot. To be fair, idol animes often borrow tropes from sports animes, like tournaments, rivalry and so on. As for the designs, this is no coincidence: the Bandori character designer is actually involved in this project.

Yet another similarity that this franchise has with Love Live and Bandori, besides the designs, obviously, are the seiyuu who have been cast in it. In fact, at least one seiyuu from the main cast of each of the Love Live franchises besides Superstar and Bandori are lending their voices to PuraOre. Here is a list of each of the seiyuu who have a main role in the Love Live or Bandori franchises, with their character in parentheses, that are part of PuraOre’s cast:
SIP: Suzuko Mimori (Umi), Sora Tokui (Nico)
Sunshine: Aina Suzuki (Mari)
Nijigaku: Mayu Sagara (Kasumi)
Bandori: Sumire Uesaka (Chisato), Aina Aiba (Yukina), Miku Ito (Kokoro)

So yeah, if you weren’t already convinced that this franchise was strangely similar to Love Live and Bandori, the cast might give you deja vu. Overall though, this seems like a pretty normal “cute girls doing cute things” series and I’ll definitely keep an eye on it. You never know, girls playing hockey could be the next big hit in the anime and manga industry. Furthermore, it could potentially turn people in Japan on to the sport of hockey itself and perhaps get them to watch their domestic/regional league, the ALIH, if or when it comes back from COVID and possibly get them to watch international leagues like the NHL, which would be a huge win for the international hockey leagues, especially the NHL, who could pick up a new enthusiastic and loyal branch of overseas fans.
