How Far Does Forgiveness Go? Ranking of Kings Ending Explained

Anime as a whole has a problem with forgiveness. You literally unleash the Gates of Hell, with the intent of killing every single person on the Earth, including your friends and their loved ones. But the next day, your forgiven. Because your magical girls, because Yuna has a big heart. Not one of the magical girls think, "you tried to murder my family, you sent monsters to rip my sister to pieces, and the most basic one, you tried to kill me".

This series seems to be more of the same. Call this the 'uncanny valley of forgiveness'. Very few human beings act like this. Maybe after months or years of soul searching you might choose to do this as a healing salve for yourself to move on. But in real life, we know there is a list of names of people who will never be forgiven for their heinous crimes. No sane person would ever match their names with the word 'forgiveness'. Also they ignore the other elephant, yeah, you forgave you friend for trying to kill your family. Is your family going to be as forgiving, more likely they are going to look at you aghast at what you are saying.

Personally, I think the word 'forgiveness' should be used in a more personal matter, forgiving friends, family and loved ones, with whom you wish to still have a bond with. WIth forgiveness implying to the other, that they still want you in their life. But for all others I think another word should be used, 'acceptance'. Where you know that revenge or vengenance is unhealthy to you, will not bring you happiness or satisfaction, and you want to move on.

Unless you are on the planet Vulcan, human type characters, still need to act like humans. And when they don't, there has to be a reason why. Like the Pod People took them over (Invasion of the Body Snatchers).
