I wonder if this will come to Toonami. They don't get much stuff since the Sony merger and there aren't much options for them since they hold most of the type of shows they show.

Sounds good!
It seems there's been significantly less buzz for this season when compared to earlier seasons.

Is the series starting to decline?
Is this upcoming arc lackluster?
Are there too many other highly anticipated anime coming this fall for it to stand out?

Perhaps some combination of the three? Or something else? I'm curious to know.

The next 2 arcs are the best of the series so far, kinda feels the other previous seasons where just the prelude for these ones, I have seen on reddit people claiming they changed the writer's editor or they gave him more freedom to make the thing darker.

Dunno what it was, but If there is a decline then it's just because this is the 6th season and a decline it's expected or because people didn't like the 5th that much, but it not the writing to blame.

I can't think of a lot of anime with six seasons. Even live-action shows struggle to reach six seasons.

Internally the series is treated as a long runner, they basically never stop working on it hence the team is mostly the same unlike with many other seasonal shows where some key memebrs move on after one season.

Yeah, not all long runners will appear like Conan running every week. I think this is much better than trying to pump out an episode every week.

I'll just give my opinion then. Yes, IMO, the series goes through a steep decline in quality. It feels like Horikoshi drops a lot of plot points and world/character building he had been building up over the course of the series in order to barrel the series right into end game. It retroactively makes all of the focus we saw given to side characters, the other Hero high school characters, etc, seem wasted. It was like Horikoshi was laying the building blocks for a super long running series, more so in the vain of Naruto or even One Piece. Laying chekov's guns so he would get pay off later.

Then... Nope-- after this season we'll be barreling right into the final arc, which is filled with contrivances, Deku crying constantly, "power of friendship" moments out the ass, etc. I would argue that the quality had been declining (in general) since the Yakuza hideout arc outside of Hawks/Endeavor stuff.

There are very specific issues I have with the content coming up in the next seasons that I can't elaborate on without spoilers, so I'm not going to bother here.

To summarize, I feel like Horikoshi started dropping the ball for a while now but then just gives up, abandons all of his building blocks, and decides to careen right into end game.

Does this mean it's all awful? No. The manga art and paneling is fantastic as always and the individual character beats can often be compelling. However, I can't call My Hero Academia a great series in good conscience. Sure it gets "dark" and we get some higher stakes for the heroes, but it means nothing to me when the narrative itself feels so amateur at this point.

I don't even know if I can blame Horikoshi; it feels like there may have been some poor editor-given advice earlier on during MHA and the stress eventually caused Horikoshi to scrap a bunch of his plans and shamble together and end game for his series.

Probably not since it seems like anything from Crunchyroll/Funimation might be off the table at the moment for Toonami (unless it’s something they where already airing) looks like they’re going to have to stick with stuff from Viz or Sentai for the time being

Some of it is the usual trend of new stuff getting focus combined with the series to have enough episodes that it can stray into "too long to get into" for newcomers. I think that season 5 basically being setup for season 6 probably didn't help. That isn't the anime's fault since it's following what is there, but it also means there wasn't a really big spectacle like prior seasons had.

Some people here already replied, but basically Season 5's adaptation leave a sour taste in people's mouth + a lot of people don't like the direction of the manga after this arc.

Plus like you said, a lot of other big things coming on Fall too like Bleach, Mob Psycho and - very likely - Chainsaw Man.

Knowing how bad the manga becomes, and the fact that the anime will most certainly censor a lot of things, as they have in the previous season, I am not looking forward to this season at all.

I'm still so psyched for this season. Even with the uneven direction the later story delves into, MHA has remained an engaging series that I want to follow to the end.
