So on the one hand I was hyped then enraged when I thought this was an announcement for a new anime, but on the other this shows Toei still have the IP and appear to be interested in reviving interest in it which means this is the first REAL step towards the dream of Toei remaking Zatch Bell.

Surprised to see Zatch Bell getting a game like this. I wonder if that means the new manga is doing well?

I feel like a full but condensed anime adaptation of the original manga would be really neat to see. (Perhaps the four main story arcs could get a season each?) In the past I figured there would never be enough demand for it, but now I have to wonder.

Can you imagine Toei splitting a long anime into seasons? Man, that'd be wild.

But if you tried to do the first saga, basically everything prior to Zophise, in one season, wouldn't it need to leave out a lot of interesting conflicts? I just don't see how you can do it in less than 30-35 episodes while leaving in everything.

Wish this gave me hope for a new adaptation on its own, but it doesn’t, sadly. There was already a mobile game several years back, so I don’t really take this as much of a sign in and of itself. Would love to be wrong, though.

Barring that, they could just do a Bleach and animate the last few parts. All they'd need to do is re-do the Faudo arc since the anime changed a bunch of stuff.

The sequel is doing pretty well from what I know, having been reprinted many times.

I heard the sequel manga is not only good, but also reaaally good.

I think a new but more faithful anime adaptation could work. But I imagine with the trends right now, financing it would be tricky.

I think it's pretty good.

I suppose if stuff like Shaman King, Rurouni Kenshin, and other reboots do well they might look at Gash Bell eventually. Seems like they test the waters every so often with new merch like figures and replicas.
