I was pleasantly surprised by this series. The first episode didn’t wow me, but each week I fell more in love with all the characters. It goes for extremes when it comes to workplace bullying, but the effects of bullying do come across as pretty realistic. The show is super sappy but it works and made me smile. I like how they handled the revelation that one character is bi too.

I'm glad Rebecca is directing more attention to all the underrated series from last season, including the Yuzuki Family's Four Sons and Overtake!
Let me begin by saying that I really enjoyed this series, which I think does a great job balancing slice of life fluff with a strong emotional core, along with a solid cast of likeable characters with appealing designs. BUT halfway through the series, I'm very much taken aback by the strange twist of Momose moving in with his new boss impulsively in a drunken state. No matter how one slices it, the key to getting over an abusive former boss is definitely not finding a new boss whom you become so dependent on that you start living with him. Sure this anime fluffy paradise, but I simply cannot get over this despite my willing suspension of disbelief of whatever that's happened in previous episodes. And it has somewhat tainted my enjoyment of the remaining episodes. Thanks for listening to my rant. |

It's a very fair rant! I think it was meant to be an indication of how much he trusted Shirosaki not to be like his old boss, but it still comes across as an odd note given how well his PTSD was depicted otherwise. I just told myself that it was all for Hakutou to have both of his people under one roof.

I don't think Momose's previous company was considered a "black company" really. It depicted the idea that abusive bosses can be alarmingly common in "normal" companies (Like's Kinjo's boss- also abusive- but it also showed that he had remorse). As the show went on I kept expecting to hear that the extreme abuse of his former supervisor (not really his "boss" either- a supervising senpai like Shirosaki) would get him fired, demoted, or at least deemed unfit to train younger members. When it depicted his exit interview I felt that it depicted the HR guy understandably- he seemed surprised when Momose asked if it would be alright to block his supervisor's phone number. When he met his formal coworker I was sure he'd be sharing news of the guy.

Thanks for the review, this was one of my unexpected favorites of the year, though it sometimes felt like the material got stretched a bit.

Hmm, I was interested in this show, especially after hearing all the praise, but I watched the first half of the first episode and it felt like the comedy just really wasn't hitting. I guess I should give it another shot. It's too bad the manga isn't licensed because it just felt like something about the execution of the anime wasn't doing it for me.

I also found this surprisingly good! The jokes were funny, and the serious parts were integrated with them perfectly.
Except for Aoyama. I enjoyed him early on, but then he got more screentime as the show went on, and it turned out he still only had one joke with no variations. Big contrast to the incredible variety we got with Shirosaki. Still worth watching though, and he was enjoyable when he wasn't making that one joke. |

While it is truly heartwarming and an always welcome watch after a tiring day, most of the jokes and personalities don't really land for me all that well. I'm especially thrown off by the kitten's inner monologue (and that his meows sound like a guy badly imitating a cat). Also, many of the BL nudges are too on the nose for me, such as showing a peach as a spoof of Apple devices.
It's likely I'm just not the target market for this one but I was hoping it's going to be a fun watch because it's very similar to another show I enjoyed last year, Cool Doji Danshi, which has the exact same premise except most of the guys are still in school and all 4 (+1) of them are dorks. |

I enjoyed this show, but at the same time the comedy was starting to get stale for me by the end. A lot of the jokes made me laugh, but it's really only a handful of the same thing over and over again. Honestly, the only time I ever laughed at any of Kinjo's bits was when he was trying to explain anime. Every other time he was on screen I cringed. Aoyama only has one joke to him, but my goodness it made me happy any time he smiled. He so badly needs a hug.
