I like the background music in the 2nd PV. Been meaning to get into the Spice & Wolf series for a time, looks like this April is a good time to start. I wonder if the English dub will bring back the original actors that played Holo and Kraft.

I think it's pretty likely they'll bring back the English VAs. They're still doing the role for the audiobooks

This looks so different from 2000s anime, and not just because of characters' designs.

People can say whatever they want, but anime visuals definitely evolved in the meantime.

It's still weird to me to see Spice and Wolf getting a remake, since I consider it to be a "modern" anime. Then I realize that it's nearly 16 years old.

I'm still trying to get used to the younger looking Holo.

One of my favourite dubs.

While I liked the original soundtrack, I'm looking forward to what Kevin Penkin gives us.

The stylistic updates will take some getting used to, but that clip still looks and sounds pretty good. Penkin is on the right track for capturing the (very effective) ambiance the original OST generated, but the real acid test will be if the series can come up with an OP and ED that are even close to being in a league with those of the original two series.

It is not nearly 16: it IS 16 years old and S2 ended almost 15 years ago.

I know that we all have different perceptions of time, but to me, 15 years IS a long time.

Like, in early 2000s, when Pokemon, Sailor Moon, Digimon, Shaman King, Yugioh dubs were a thing, mid 80s seemed like billions of years ago. Shocked

Been abit since I last read any of the Novels... Personally I'd liked to have seen a continuation, maybe something dealing with their daughter.

It sometimes seems that way to those of use who lived through that time, too. . . Rolling Eyes

I still stream the first season OP from time to time. It's one of my favorites.

I dunno about the ED, but "Tabi no Tochū" is flat out the most beautiful OP song in the history of ever.

PV looks good! Holo's tail is super fluffy and Ami Koshimizu hasn't missed a beat.

Personally I'd define "modern anime" as everything produced after the move to HD broadcasting, which was... 2006, I think? 2007? Thereabouts. The shift to 16:9 aspect ration makes for a clear line of distinction, and it also coincides nicely with the rise of digital animation techniques.

Though come to think of it... I have a very clear image in my head for what 60s anime looks like, or 70s anime, or 80s anime, or 90s anime... I don't really have clear images in mind for 00s anime, 10s anime, or (good god) 20s anime. If I watch something "modern" I have a harder time placing it to a certain decade, whereas the "premodern" stuff seldom presents much difficulty assigning to its decade.

Wait, this is a reboot and not a continuation? That's such a shame, if so. The original was great there isn't a need to reboot it. I just wanted to see more from where it left off.
