Sounds like hot trash, but the good kind like Killing Bites was. Too bad I don't have Monopolyroll so I'll have to pass for now but I await the daily reviews!

Monopolyroll? What does that have to do with this? What is that anyway?

This series seems good so far, but it feels like it's lacking something to really get it's hooks in me.
The show didn't seem to have any issues with gore, so I was surprised that we just got a zoom in when those two people exploded. I wonder if it was a censorship thing or just a budget thing...

Not exactly deep, but it's very enjoyable and it managed to establish its world very effectively without much exposition and I really like the characters. Ashaf in particular is extremely charismatic and I could listen to Toshiyuki Morikawa talking with that calm tone for ages.

Because Crunchyroll has practically almost become a monopoly at this point in time.

I also enjoy this series more than I can justify. I appreciate it's ability to keep a flavor of edgy dark fantasy while keeping clothing and accessories grounded. I wonder if the anime will give us as many outfit changes as the manga? I think Guideau has a different outfit on every cover on top of a variety in the actual chapters. (Ashaf has several too, but they don't stand out as much because he only wears suits, and I think his only non-black outfits are in cover art.)

On the subject of aesthetics, the anime looks poised to stop just before an arc full of neat-looking Victorian-gothic stuff.

Re: composition, the anime seems to mirror manga panels closer than I'd expect. Even some of the cuts people complained about as too abrupt in episode one are literally jumping from one manga panel to another. More liberties might have worked better there. I'm glad they kept the ornate frames, though.

Using Latin for the narration intro graphics is an interesting choice. I don't know if Latin even exists in the setting (you can see fantasy writing on a lot of signs), but the flavor fits.

I'm a little disappointed in episode two, as I was hoping we would get to know the protagonists more and why Guideau is a girl but also a guy in a coffin and what exactly the curse entails, we only really got a repeat of episode one, Ashaf is cool and Guideu wants to kill witches.

Also the woman in the beginning got boobed to death. What a way to go

Reubens death was hilarious as was the incest twist, this is shaping up to be a great comedy.
I'm very confused about the old woman we saw kill a lady last episode. I went back and checked and that was an actual old woman so presumaby not the incest brothers?
Is she coming back or was that them animating their old lady mask as an actual old lady to throw the audience off? If that's the case I'll be mad.

Looks like next week we'll meet the characters that's inexplicably on the shows visual instead of Ashaf and Guideu so I assume they'll be important

One of my all-time favorites. I picked this up precisely because this sounded like it was of a similar premise -- a witch hunting other witches. But while it doesn't seem to be going in that direction, this show is pleasantly surprising me in its own way. Been enjoying it since the 1st episode.

I enjoyed this episode most so far. More of a relief than I expected to not have to tolerate Guideau's constant grrrr big mad impetuousness.

And all the zombies showing up at once was a surprisingly effective horror note. Johan having to fight them all alone kinda killed the chill, but the scary wouldn't have lasted long anyway and replacing it with humor was fine. I also don't mind Jeff being boring. I kinda like him, though it might just be something about his character design that hits for me.

Much as I hate to admit it though, they coulda used Guideau around for the Hulk zombie...

Yeah, one episode into this story and I already think I like the new pair more than the old. I think both of these leads have a bit more nuance in their interactions- both with each other and especially other characters.

And yeah, the red tape and rules around necromancy make for fascinating worldbuilding. There are a lot of fascinating questions to ask with something like that.

This ep needed a cutaway to Guideau wondering where all the dang witches are.

I really enjoyed the first episode. The story is cool, mixing mystery and fantasy, and the characters are interesting. The music could be better, but the animation during the action scenes is great, it makes everything look nice. I can not wait for more where story goes.
