I guess it's more fodder for the video portal, and the Funimation channel.

Was Heat Guy J ever that big of a series? I've never seen any discussion on it anywhere.

I'm not sure if Heat Guy J was ever that big of a series in online Anime fandom. However, it did air on MTV 2 (a digital tier channel where I caught a few episodes) and I actually saw disks for sale at Wal Mart at one point (around the Xmas time that ADV got Platinum Evangeleon Thinpak's into Wal Mart IIRC). So it may have a audience that still might be wishing to pick up copies, plus I don't think it ever came out in a thin pack collection so that might be a bonus for those wanting to pick it up. |

Not really but ANN thought nicely of vol. 1. When are we going to get more One Piece movies and xxxHOLic, FUNi? |

While I wouldn't go as far as to call it a masterpiece, I did enjoy this series.

No, but there was a huge ass collection (eight DVD-cases in two artboxes) which might still be available in some places. Got it pretty cheap last year. |

This is definitely good. Heat Guy J was definitely an underrated series, and I do hope more people get the chance to watch it.
Here's an old review of it for those interested: http://www.animeacademy.com/finalrevdisplay.php?id=472 |

Wow, I can't believe they found this and re-licensed it; that's great news! This is really a fun little series and I'm glad it'll be back on the shelves.
One thing about the announcement, though: I'm pretty sure Satelight did HGJ, and not Bones... |

Popular, no, which surprises me that Funi would grab it. I'm glad they did, though, because it is a good series, and the number of copies available was dwindling. I've seen a couple people share the sentiment that this show is under appreciated, and I agree. |

I really enjoy this show, so it's nice to know this might get more people to see it.
Anyone know if Funi is putting extras on these re-releases? I already own this series, but just curious. |

HURRAY~ Heat Guy J needed to be rescued as it is a totally AWESOME series. I'd seriously put it someone where up with the likes of Cowboy Bebop and OutLaw Star in terms of how awesome it is.

As far as I've heard, Funimation just re-releases shows exactly as they were (One Piece excepted). |

I wish Funi would rescue something hard to find, like JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, instead of all these shows that can still be found very cheaply at Rightstuf.com...
