Not surprised. I figured since Atsuko wasn't being counted in this one that Yuko would take it since they've always been pretty head to head.

That's a pretty big landslide for Yuko though even without Atsuko. Was hoping Mayuyu would at least be a bit closer.

Dropped by my local Soba restaurant for dinner last night and to answer your question - everyone. they had the election playing on several screens and the staff were providing running commentary. And this is just a regular corner noodle store.

Quite the gap between first and second place.

The higher the ranking, the more promotion the girl get because it indicate a high demand and big fanbase.

Basically same deal as life...people at the top get everything.

Yuko is pretty popular considering she's one of the most mainstream member with large fanbase of both fangirls and fanboys, and already 2, 3 dramas airing this year and 1 movie in the work. Everyone expected her to win. Tho the thing that make the election good is not the ranking, but the drama, Shinoda Mariko's pretty boss speech and Yokoyama Yui's yearly mental breakdown and hyperventilation. Senbatsu grew too...this thing is like World Cup or some National Sport event right now being covered by national channels and even Google. FujiTV showed a 18.1% rating and a rise to 24% when the biggest leap and surprise of the year Sashihara Rino got to 4th place.
