Exciting to see that PSO2 is coming to the west.

I've been playing the beta and the JP release, it's a pretty fun game so far (pretty reminiscent of PSO Ep 1&2 that consumed many many hours of my childhood).

Question, how much payed content is there and how much does it affect the game? Is it just XP boosts and cosmetic stuff or is there stuff that will give paying players a large advantage over nonpaying ones?

There's a fair amount of stuff that can only be obtained through real money, but nothing that directly affects gameplay too much.

I'll list a few of the more notable purchasable features:

Quote:
-You can only have one character at a time for free (but that one character can change between classes at any time for free)

-You can pay to reset your character's skill tree

-You can buy additional MAGs (stat-boosting item; you start out with one for free)

-Selling items on the in-game shop (auction house functionality, however buying through the shop can be done for free)

-You can buy access to "my room," pretty much what it sounds like; you can set up furniture you find as drops, have a personal hangout area, etc.

-Costumes/cosmetic stuff of course

Ships (servers) 2 and 10 are the main foreign communities, but there are english-speakers sprinkled throughout (I'm on ship 9, many of the servers are getting pretty full.)

If you know Katakana, navigation of the JP game isn't too difficult; there are plenty of loanwords used for menu items and general game content.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

PS: I don't think they take paypal yet (maybe they will with a western release), but a CC should work...with a Japanese address.

Been waiting for this announcement... but not sure if I'll get into it. As much as I love PSO, I don't like F2P nonsense.
