This is great news! I hate it when the original voice cast changes. Let's hope that this new series has the same great feel as the OVA.

Yes, it is very good news. Inoue Kikuko as Belldandy, one of my most favorite seiyuu's

However, I though that this was supposed to air starting Sept 9, not next year as the post says it will.

I wish this were the same for the english dubs as well. Some day the US distributors will realise that continuity matters. Rolling Eyes

Funimation realized that, as they used the same english voice actors for Tenchi Muyo GXP that Pioneer used for the Tenchi Muyo Ryo-Ohki OVA's

So, on that same note, when FUNimation releases the 3rd Tenchi Muyo Ryo-Ohki OVA, they should be using the same english voice actors.

That's news! Because FUNi said at their GXP website that they either "couldn't find them" or "They declined" which was denied by three of the VA's in question.

If you could link to a reference I'd be grateful. Wink

Unfortunately, we may not hear the same english VAs from AnimEigo's OMG OAVs. Coastal Studios, which did the dubbing for OMG, disbanded just awhile ago.

But there's still hope that the ADV cast would dub this.

As for "continuity", just remember that the You're Under Arrest cast from AnimEigo and ADV was the same.

Wouldn't it be the cast used for the movie that Pioneer did?

As for that reference of mine, you'll have to google it (also through googling, it appears that Pioneer already has the rights to the TV series)

Except they live again... as Pheonix Post sound. Smile

So who knows what will happen?

That would be Geneon now. Dub studios might come and go but the actors still exist, if they still live and work as VAs. with a bit of effort they could be persuaded to reprise their roles again. OVA that is. As for Tenchi GXP Original VA's for Ep-17 the confirmed report is that FUNi didn't get them and used new actors. Until someone can show me otherwise I don't hold much hope for the third OVA either. Rolling Eyes

I must have mistaken what I saw, what I read must have been in reference to the Japanese voice actors, and that they got the original voice actors for that instead.

However, since FUNimation has the 3rd OVA, obviously they will be using the same voice actors for the dub.

again I say I love this series. I've seen both the movie and oav subbed and loved them. Still need to look into the manga which this new tv series is based off of (sounds good) and I am glad to hear the original staff and voice actors are working on it! So far so good now for the finished product!

Well, in comparison, the FUNimation new voices are at the same time better and worse than the original Pioneer cast.

Here's the rundown.

Ryoko - poorly cast. Completely lacking the alluring temptress voice of the original. Sultry womanhood replaced by a vapid teeny-bopper.

Ayeka - barely better than Ryoko. The affected British accent is very odd for the character, if not flat out wrong, but the softer less nasal tone is closer to the original than Jennifer Darling.

Mihoshi - completely tolerable as she's voiced by Rebecca Forstadt, Ellen Gerstel's backup during the Pioneer dubbing who was the voice of Mihoshi in the 3rd movie.

Sasami - well, about dead even. Generic little girl's voice from Pioneer, Generic little girl's voice from FUNimation.

Tenchi - honestly, Tenchi's character is so different in GXP that it's hard to say. Somehow, the new VA, Chris Kent, brings the new and improved decisive, skilled, and confident (dare I say, mature?) Tenchi to life in a way Matt K. Miller really didn't do well in the 3rd Movie.

Washu - she has the biggest role, and well, it seems that Jessica Gee plays more of a stereotype of K.T. Vogt's Washu than to a close approximation of the Japanese Washu. Not bad, but not particularly thrilling either.

So, there you have it. Take from that what you will.
