Definitely a fun show. I wonder how much they will adapt from the manga though as there are a lot of material. Also looking forward to some of the other characters to debut soon. A lot of cast already introduced though and the gimmicks are amusing to say the least.
Also can't get that OP song out of my head right now

I love explaining this manga to my friends.
"It's a manga about a reject classroom and the students are being trained by the government and their teacher as assassins to kill their teacher. Their teacher is an octopus monster that blew up the moon and now threatens to blow up the earth unless his students can kill him before the year is up but he's the greatest teacher ever and cares about them."
It's really good though. Very funny, but very serious too. It's not a complete gag.

While in retrospect I feel I may have slightly overgraded the first episode in the Preview Guide, I did still thoroughly enjoy episode 2 as well. Koro-sensei amuses me in a way the no other anime character in recent memory has; his particular take on "tentacle groping" was inspired, for instance, and what's apparently going to be a running joke about inserting tentacles into class assignments in some way is going to take a while to get old. I share Paul's concerns about the supporting cast, but that's not a major problem for me (yet).

I didn't really like the show of open hostility from Nagisa, which wasn't in the manga and would be out of character for his manga portrayal, but hopefully he'll grow out of it as he gets to know Korosensei better.
Aside from that, though, I'm loving this show so far. And the OP might be one I watch every time.

Fukuyama Jun's role as Koro-sensei is quite enjoyable and fits the character.
On a side-note: I haven't read the manga, so for nearly half of the first episode I assumed Nagisa was a female. Talk about bishōnen

Yeah...at first I thought "Oh, she's one of those characters who like to wear boy uniforms to class". Also, doesn't help his VA doesn't even try to go for the 'young boy voice' that most Japanese female VAs do (think Megumi Ogata or Romi Park) so that made it more confusing.
Second favorite anime of winter next to Maria the Virgin Witch; glad Funimation got both.

When I started the manga, I think it took me at least through the second chapter before I realized Nagisa was male. (I also thought for the longest time that he and Kayano were siblings or maybe cousins because they look so alike.)
I'm surprised just how feminine they went with his anime voice, though. I don't think I've ever heard a teen boy in an anime sound quite that blatantly girly, lol.

Gasper from Highschool DxD New. Or pretty much any boy voiced by Ikue Otani (e.g. Chopper, Konohamaru, Mitsuhiko).

Ah, I haven't seen High School DxD New.
And I've certainly heard boys sound that girly in anime before - just not teenagers, that I could recall off the top of my head. The kids in AssClass are 14- and 15-year-olds.

I've yet to see this, but I loved Matsui's previous work, Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro, so I'm sure this'll be a hit!

I wouldn't be too worried about the supporting cast. At the very least the manga does a good job with that. There are times when students from E-Class that we've only seen in passing get full arcs for themselves, and though there are yet many who haven't been given the spotlight, most of them have had a chance to shine.
(It isn't really much of a spoiler, but decided to tag it just in case).

It's pretty clear where this is going, especially thematically, with Kurosensei restoring a sense of confidence in each of his students through working with them and also providing a common goal for all of them. I wouldn't even be surprised if he doesn't even really intend to destroy the planet or if he wasn't even the one who blasted the moon.
But it's still an interesting watch for the time being. I just hope the premise doesn't wear thin soon.

It is still early days so the future episodes should be adapting strong chapters/arcs focused on the entire cast (this isn't school manga 12, theywere all named early with reason) more or less, often ones focused on individuals as well with time so the better classroom elements show.
The Assassination elements aren't too far away either but anyway Ep 2 was a bit strange as an adaptation from how it pushed Nagisa as hostile and the animation was less interesting but it still seems to grasp the core idea well even if the opening is a bit too silly for me. They even had Nagisa note down info on Koro-sensei from Vol 1's data section.
Presumably, if the class was nuked during math, Koro-sensei would survive given his limited weaknesses, hear/sense it coming and escape and the government would be held responsible for Class E and more dying. If you are hoping for more risky or lawless attempts (somewhat like Terasaka and Nagisa's attempt in Ep 1), they do occur in the manga from various parties.

Yeah, I was also deep into the first episode before it clicked that he was a boy.

To be fair, it's not really made clear in the manga either. I think Viz's version of volume 1 directly points out that Nagisa is male to clear up any confusion.
