Gotta admit, at the start of the first episode I had my doubts. The show's pacing seemed awkward at first, as if it was trying to bring back something that should've finised a while ago.

Then, the second episode came out and all doubt was dispelled. Since then, the antics of Gintama still feel natural as if the show never left in the first place.

The last episode especially was awesome. Can't wait to see the continuation.

Good going on getting Ore Monogatari to first place, guys. Personally my favorite show for the season is still Gintama, but I gave my vote to Monogatari because I figured it could use the boost more and I also love it.

The top 5 looks good to me in general, minus new Fate, which I find meh at best.

Man, Baby Steps is quite low on the ANN list and not even on the Japanese one. The ANN placement isn't very surprising for a sports show, but it sucks to see it might not have much popularity in Japan. I hope that's not the case because it's quite good.

The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan remains the only spring show I've seen, but I've never seen a single episode of any Gintama series, so I don't think I'm about to start watching it now. (I glanced at the Wikipedia entry but it doesn't seem like my bag and I'm reluctant, to say the least, to start watching any sort of series that has accumulated triple digit episode counts.)

This year I was more excited for the summer season than the spring season anyway, since it's got both a second season of Non Non Biyori and a Gakkou Gurashi anime based on the manga that weirdly combines cute girls slice-of-life with survival horror.

While Gintama is a good show, i find it to be getting seriously overrated as of late, far from the masterpiece some people try to make it be.

While i was marathoning to catch up, i noticed the comedy gets predictable after a while. And there are as many hilarious episodes as there are the boring ones.

Gintama is simply an OR show.

Good going, OreMono is hyping up. But well, Kekkai Sensen is simply funk~

I think a big part of my reluctance to even contemplate finding out what the fuss is about with Gintama is indeed the length.

For the life of me, I cannot binge watch anything. Three episodes of any half-hour (as in actually ~24 minutes for an anime) show is about the maximum I can endure in any one sitting, which is pretty ideal for a single cour show but makes shows that run in the hundreds of episodes to be a Mount Everest that I feel too intimidated to attempt to conquer.

Unless it's a show I've watched all of the way through before in which case playing a whole disk of episodes is really just background noise.

As for the other series' I just hope that they have strong sales especially the top 15 so that more seasons will be made

I don't know people say Gintama is overrated, MALs rating systems don't really mean anything. And most people who like it, say it is funny, not that is is a masterpiece.

Definitely not your show then, as I believe you need to watch past the 50 episode mark before it gets good. Not that it doesn't have good episodes early on, but I sat through a lot wondering why I was bothering. I told myself a show with 200+ eps had to have something about it to deserve it.

It ain't perfect, but there episodes that are genius and hilarious.

I will wait patiently until it ends. Even forever~

A lot of people still seem to like Gintama, with myself included. I would've voted for Gintama, but I went for Rinne instead which didn't make the top 20 unfortunately.

Gintama is among the few comedy shows that actually makes me laugh, and not just giggle lightly or make me smile. Definitely a good show.

Gintama deserves all the hype it gets. For a show to remain consistently hilarious after 270+ episodes, often in new ways, is nothing short of amazing. Not to mention the more serious arcs manage to somehow blend perfectly into the mix and end up being several times more exciting than far longer 'action' arcs in shows entirely committed to that kind of thing.

It's a very well balanced show that's not afraid to tackle all sorts of comedy and storytelling, and the result is great entertainment. Obviously, though, not everyone's going to agree, and that's okay.
