Sega Briefly Lists Yakuza 5 for Mid-November in U.S.

posted on by Jennifer Sherman

The official Sega Blog briefly listed mid-November as Sega's target release date for the Yakuza 5 (Ryū ga Gotoku 5) PlayStation 3 game in the United States. The company noted that the PlayStation Store's pre-order page still lists the digital release date as December 31, but said that it will likely release the game in mid-November "if all goes to schedule." Sega also said "[the release is] a little later than we would've liked." The company has since updated its original blog post to remove any specific mention of a release date.

Sega explained that it is working to fix development bugs that appeared during the localization process. Problems arose while switching certain parts of the original Japanese text for English text. Sega had to search through the source code to fix the problem but said that "Everything is more or less back on track."

The official U.S. PlayStation blog announced in August that the game's Western release will include all the DLC released for the Japanese version of the game. Yakuza 5 was originally released in Japan for the PlayStation 3 in December 2012.
