The song Kaoru and Sentaro are playing on the piano in ep 1 in the basement is called Moanin by Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers.

Art Blakey is an influential musicain for Sentaro's playing style on the drums.

The first song you see Kaoru playing on the piano is "claire de lune" by Claude Achilles Debussy. Kaoru is also animated playing the correct keys.

As Kaoru plays the piano he calls upon Bill Evens, a famous jazz pianist, for helping him correctly play Someday My Prince Will Come.

Ritsuko and Kaoru listen to the song My Favorite Things from the Sound of Music at 8:43 in ep 6. John Coltrane recorded a jazz cover that became very popular.

Matsuoka gives Sentaro a Beatles record seen at 13:18 in ep 6. This is probably why he has a mushroom like hairstyle.
