In Episode 8 around the 20:30 mark, the instructor of the cooking class takes a bite of food and then is shown in a dream-like state being held by a man wearing a duck headed suit while operatic music plays. The man bears a striking resemblance to the Italian opera tenor Luciano Pavarotti. The food the instructor tasted was made by a student from an Italian restaurant, which was Pavarotti's favorite ethnic cuisine.
In Episode 10, Yukihira Soma goes to the onsen after finishing his food service, there he meets Dojima Gin. Dojima Gin is voiced by "Koyasu Takehito", the same voice actor of "Kuroyanagi Ryou" from the anime "Yakitate!! Japan".
In episode 13, Satoshi Isshiki dreams of his Polar Star underclassmen returning from the training camp looking all buff and like delinquents. In particular, Sōma Yukihira resembles Kenshiro from First of the North Star, down to the Big Dipper constellation scars on his chest and "atatatata!" sound effect.
In Episode 14, during the halfway segment: Yukihira Soma ("Ryu"), Tadokoro Megumi ("Cammy") and Yoshino Yuki ("Chun-Li") are cosplaying characters from the video game series "Street Fighter". After next weeks' preview: Mito Ikumi ("Elena"??), Aldini Takumi ("Ken"), Aldini Isami ("E. Honda"), Nakiri Alice ("Guile") and Nakiri Erina ("Blanka") are also cosplaying characters from "Street Fighter".
In episode 16, when Tadokoro Megumi imagines herself as a princess being awoken by the Prince of Apples after tasting Soma's dish, her dress is that of Disney's Snow White.
