The first Lupin III tv anime to feature Jigen being voiced by Akio Ohtsuka.
The final Lupin III TV anime to feature Kiyoshi Kobayashi as the voice of Daisuke Jigen. He retired from voice acting after voicing the character for 52 years.
While Akio Ohtsuka has done voice work in three Lupin III TV specials and the 1995 "Farewell to Nostradamus" movie. This is his first time doing voice work for a Lupin III TV anime.
The first Lupin III related anime since the 1987 "Fuma Conspiracy" to feature a different voice actor voicing Jigen.
The first Lupin III TV anime to be written by Mamoru Oshii. Oshii was originally going to direct the third Lupin III anime movie "Gold of Babylon". However during the preproduction stage, the producers considered Oshii's vision of the movie as too avant-garde, and as a result Oshii was replaced with Seijun Suzuki and Shigetsugu Yoshida serving as the directors of the film.

Lupin has previously met Sherlock Holmes III in the 15th episode of the Red Jacket TV anime.
