Italian Lupin III Board Game Translated for U.S. Release

Japanime Games to also publish Japanese Barba*rossa card game in 2012

The American card and board game publisher Japanime Games is releasing a partially translated version of the Italian Lupin the 3rd board game in the United States this week. Inspired by the Lupin III manga and anime franchise, Ghenos Games originally released the game designed by Pierluigi Frumusa in Italy last year. The retail price of the American version is US$60.

In the game, one person plays Inspector Zenigata and the police, and one to four other players each control a member of Lupin's group. The Lupin gang sneaks around the board while the police try to undermine their plans.

The heist game includes a double-sided game board that creates two basic game scenarios in a complex gameplay system. Each player uses a deck of cards that remain in Italian in the American version of the game. The rulebook includes instructions in Italian and English.

Japanime Games also plans to release the Japanese World War II-themed card game Barba*rossa in the United States this December. Arclight published the game in Japan in 2010. In the deck-building game's story, Germany and Russia use all-female armies to battle during World War II. Players receive an initial deck at the beginning of each game and then draw Supply Cards, Unit Cards, Operation Cards, Deploy Cards, Target Cards, and Event Cards to continue the battle.

The official Japanese website for Barba*rossa offers downloadable versions of the game's rulebook as well as paste-ups for all game cards in English to use with the Japanese version of the game.
