Manga Creator Takako Shimura Draws Storyboards to Replace Idol in AKB48 Music Video

Manga creator Takako Shimura (Wandering Son, Aoi Hana) drew storyboards for the incomplete version of the music video for AKB48's 53rd single, "Sentimental Train." The music video debuted on Thursday, and the single will ship on September 19.
Storyboards and CG images stand in for SKE48 member Jurina Matsui in the video. AKB48 holds a general election every year to determine which idols will perform the next single and choose a "center" idol for the song. Matsui ranked #1 in this year's election, and she was scheduled to appear in the music video with the rest of the top 16 idols. However, she collapsed at the performance event that announced the election's results on June 16. Matsui is currently taking time off from all her idol activities in order to recover her health.
Staff plan to add in video of Matsui into the music video after she returns from her break. People who order the group's new single will receive a serial number to allow them to view the "complete version" of the video after Matsui's return.
