Shinchosha and Sega to develop weekly comic publication for America

On May 16th, Shinchosha and Sega announced the weekly comic publication, to begin publication in America in October. This magazine will include "Hotaru no Ken" (Fist of the North Star) and other famous comics. Subscriptions will be purchased over the internet initially, and will be sold on a "fixed subscription system". In America, Japanese manga is becoming more popular, but this is said to be the first weekly manga magazine in America.

The English-Language Comic magazine "Raijin Comics" will carry City Hunter, Slam Dunk, etc. Additionally, anime and game information will also be carried. Shuchosha's "Coa-Mix" group will edit the magazine. These companies, and others, have contributed over 100 million yen ($800,000) to the start-up project. A California-based company has been created, to sell the magazine.

Circulation is anticipated to be around 15,000 copies.

Selling videos and games associated with the manga are also planned. Additionally, this magazine will also go on sale in Germany, Italy, and other places.
