Wartime fable from Grave of the Fireflies' Nosaka about girl befriended by wolf
The Shinei Animation studio is streaming a new trailer for its August 15 television anime adaptation of the Kiku-chan to Ōkami (Kiku-chan and the Wolf) wartime fable on its website. Grave of the Fireflies author Akiyuki Nosaka wrote the original Toshi-Oi Mesu-Ōkami to Onna no Ko no Hanashi (The Story of the Old Mother Wolf and the Girl) story about a wolf in World War II Manchuria who watches over a girl like her mother. The television special is the seventh in Shin-Ei's Sensō Dōwa (wartime fable) series; Shin-Ei animated the Futatsu no Kurumi (Two Walnuts) wartime story last year.
