NANA actress plays manga creator dealing with husband's issues in October 8 film

The official website for the latest adaptation of the semi-autobiographical manga Tsure ga Utsu ni Narimashite. is streaming a television ad for the film. (On the linked page, click on the "TVスポット-ラブポップ篇-" link to see the commercial.) The film, based on Tenten Hosokawa's best-selling essay manga, is slated for a nationwide theater release in Japan on October 8.

The story follows a young couple as they struggle to cope with the husband's sudden diagnosis with depression. Manga author Haru supports her office worker husband Tsure as his deepening depression and suicidal thoughts darken the couple's thus-far successful marriage.

After starring in many live-action Japanese films such as NANA and Tomie: Forbidden Fruit, Aoi Miyazaki plays the wife in this adaptation. Actor Masato Sakai, who previously starred in live-action films such as Honey and Clover and anime like Aoi Bungaku Series, plays the office worker husband.

Kiyoshi Sasabe (Town of Evening Calm, Country of Cherry Blossoms, Chirusoku no natsu) is directing the film off of Takeshi Aoshima's (Hikari no Ame, Gin no Otoko: Roppongi Hosuto Densetsu) script.

The first live-action adaptation of Tenten Hosokawa's manga ran in 2009 on the NHK television network. That live-action drama series starred Norika Fujiwara and Taizō Harada.
